After style guide, it was big chellenge because title sequence compared to my style guide, is totally different concept. i had to come up with new idea for storyboard and concept at all. Also to put footage to another footage i need to learn new tutorial i go through called Mocha After effect.
In terms of process, I was confused how can i sort it out with footage. what i had in brain is take to photo frame which is one of the important key in our movie.
I did not changed a lot from first poster. I just rearranged mandatory information for big title.
I am very happy with this. because i decided visual elemetns before stele guide. I love to do sort of layout and hierarchy stuff. I very enjoyed make a poster.
I tried to do motion track in AE first, but it did not work well every seconds because i had to move all keyframe. it makes me crazy all the time. i tried like over 40times to make perfect.
After Oliver Delprado suggested Mocha AE, i could enjoy it. but it took long time for 2 weeks.
I was happy with it to learn new tutorial even if it's not perfect.
I was looking for place dark and strong contrast for film background.
I found difficult that shooting a film to put photo fame on the wall as storyboard because it did not stay for a second. so i changed mind to put on the stairs and camera moves top to down.
Without shaking, painning was out of control my self at the moment.
I wanted to emphasised the colour in my colour palette. i though it would be grab a attention for potential customer. After a few test prints, i was very un satisfied. In particular, the colour did not turn out as expected as i picked them from a solid uncoated pantone book. While colour worked on screen, it was not effective on paper.
1- There will be three photo frames on the wall and I will use camera panning to film the scene (camera will move from left to right)
2,3 -While camera panning, each character will be introduced, with the film footage of each character shown in the frame on the left and the character name written on the right side. Foggy and noise effects will be used
4 -Camera will zoom out, showing all the photo frames. Each photo frame will fall randomly and each of the director's name will appear on the wall. One photo frame will remain on the wall
5 -Then the camera will zoom the photo frame remaining on the wall and the movie will be started.
When I first started animating the logo, my initial idea was the focus of the animation was the sync between the gunshot sounds and the appearing text and finally some appearing out of the gun after the gunshots. For most parts the whole animation was going smoothly until I tried to find a plugin for the smoke effect. Just trying to find this plugin for After Effects took 2 days, finally getting my hands on the plugin I implemented it into my animation. After my lecturer had a look at my animation, she loved everything up until the smoke effect on the gun, she explained that it complicated the animation and told me to not add that part in, hearing that I was quite devastated considering how long it took me to come across that plugin, but after looked at again the smoke did conflict with my original idea of a simplistic design.
+ this is classic style of film noir i found all typefaces have shadow and san serif in this era. i like the poster right side on the bottom. Bold typeface with black colour stand out the the title more.
I mainly tried to focus on the simplicity of the design and not to over complicate, by integrating the slim long characteristics of the font I used to that as an inspiration for the object. The hardest part I had with the logo design was implementation of the object within the text, the first design I came up with had a problem with the logo creating a third row and breaking the sturdiness of the design.
Firstly I was interested in typeface title sequences, the most interesting part of the animation was the transformation of image into typeface image. The animator did a really good job in choosing the soundtrack and the background texture, which allows the audience to clearly tell what kind of genre he was aiming for. The only minor problem I had with the animation was the sync between the soundtrack and the animation itself.
